| We had the best weather yet this year this past weekend – it was beautiful! On Saturday Javi and I decided to take advantage of the warm temps and cool breeze with a trip east near Cookeville to do some hiking with the doggos. It was a perfect day – sunny but not too hot and under the canopy of the woods it was just right with a light sweatshirt. My favorite hiking weather. We did two trails to see two different falls – Burgess Falls (first) and Cummins Falls (second). | Tuvimos el mejor tiempo hasta ahora este fin de semana – estaba precioso! El Sabado, Javi y yo decidimos aprovechar la temperatura agradable y la brisa para ir cerca de Cookeville a hacer hiking con los perros. El dia estaba perfecto – soleado pero no caluroso y bajo las hojas del bosque se sentia perfecto usando solo un poleron ligero. Mi clima favorito para salir a caminar. Hicimos dos senderos para ver dos cascadas – Burgess Falls primero y Cummins Falls despues. |
| Burgess Falls was probably my favorite because it had a “smaller” falls and then the big one which was just gorgeous. We could actually scale down a flight of stairs to see the side and get sprayed by the water – poor Chori was absolutely traumatized. I think it was a mix of the noise, the feel of the stairs and the height – anyway, he wasn’t diggin’ it. Chupi had a total blast jumping around the rocks and hiking but Chori was mostly just along for the ride (though he did make sure to mark his territory every chance he got so it can’t have been that bad for him). After the hike to these falls we stopped for a PB&J lunch at a nice little picnic area outside of the trail, then we headed off to Cummins Falls which was a couple of miles back on I-40E. | Burgess Falls fue mi favorita porque habia una cascada chica y luego una grande que era espectacular. Pudimos bajar a la base de la cascada por una escalera y nos llegaba el rocio de la cascada – pobre Choripan estaba traumatizado. Creo que fue el ruido, las escaleras y la altura – pero bueno, a el no le gusto mucho. Chupete lo estaba pasando genial, saltando de roca en roca pero Chori solo fue por acompanarnos (aunque no perdio ninguna oportunidad de marcar su territorio, asi que no todo fue malo para el). Despues de visitar esa cascada, paramos a comer almuerzo en un area de picnic al lado del sendero, y despues nos fuimos camino a Cummins Falls que solo quedaba a unas millas en la carretera I-40E. |
| Cummins Falls was really nice and an easy hike if anyone is interested in going but doesn’t want anything strenuous. The trail was wide and it felt nice underfoot. The falls were gorgeous and they had a nice turquoise pool at the bottom of the falls that we just wanted to dive into. Javi and I are going to go back without the doggos sometime this summer to climb down to the bottom of the falls…maybe even jump in the water if other people are doing the same. We’ll see. For now, here are a few photos of the falls from above! If the forecast is any indication, it looks like we’re officially heading into spring! Mid 50s and 60s all week…so that means more hiking and outdoor activities! | Cummins Falls fue una caminata agradable y facil si alguien esta interesado/a en visitar y no tener que hacer mucho esfuerzo. El sendero era ancho y comodo. La cascada es preciosa y tenia un color turquesa muy lindo en la piscina que se formaba en el fondo. Nos daban ganas de tirarnos un piquero. Javi y yo vamos volver a ir sin los perros durante el verano para escalar a la base…tal vez incluso nadar un poco si es que hay mas gente haciendolo tambien. Veremos! |
